What is a Personal Learning Network (PLN) anyway?

Paraphrasing from the professor’s hand out and wiki, it is a way of matching people’s individual learning needs and interests on a particular topic through a connected informal learning network. When learning, we make different types of connections with sources (websites or people) with a specific intent of gaining some type of knowledge through that connection. This concept stems from the theory connectivism (academics like to invent words) developed by George Siemens and Stephen Downes.

So the idea with the assignment is that we foster our ability to direct our own professional development and become independent learners. By the way, it’s worth 40% of our final grade so that definitely gives it some salience!

Also, I will be supplementing the write ups with some photos of my travels abroad to keep things interesting.
